After the race

Here are some pictures of "TEAM WIDZ" from the amazing race this weekend.  This was a fund raiser for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society. It was much like the Amazing Race on TV in that you had to use clues to find each destination throughout Downtown Denver while taking detours and doing challenges to earn additional points.  Our team "finished" 15th out of 64 teams, BUT, we came in 9th out of 64 teams from the points we accumulated throughout the race using the detours and completing the challenges.  We had to take a picture with "a child's hero,"  find the oldest hotel (which happens to be the favorite place John liked to "void" downtown), the face statue, a picture with a child that has a cancer survivor....our child was "Malerie" who is 17 and has been fighting leukemia since 2006 (pic below), find someone who has lost someone to cancer and would let us tattoo them, and LOTS more.  This was an "AMAZING" event, so much fun and it informed you about the seriousness of cancer, putting faces to it's awful name and bringing together thousands of people who want to KICK THIS IN THE ASS and FIND A CURE!  My team consisted of three widows; Jill, Natalie and myself and Natalie's new husband Thad.  We will definitely be participating next year and hope to recruit many more to join us in this great event!
